Rick Nash is the first New York Ranger to announce his plans to play overseas during the lockout.

According to multiple reports, Nash will join Joe Thornton and play for HC Davos of the Swiss league, as they both did during the 2004-05 lockout.

Davos representatives had said Nash would be suiting up for them in the event of a lockout months ago, but it had been denied by all parties.

In the 2004-05 season, Nash scored 27 goals and 20 assists in 40 games. Perhaps this is a tune-up for Nash in preparation for when the lockout ends, so he won't be sluggish when teams finally hit the ice.

Carl Hagelin is very eager to play in Sweden during the lockout, according to this (translated) source.

The move may be difficult due to his current contract, however. His contract may prevent him from signing with other clubs, and since he played a certain number of games for the Rangers last season, he can't be sent down to the Connecticut Whale without clearing waivers (a process he'd very likely be claimed).

Therefore, it doesn't look like Hagelin will be playing much at all. However, he will meet with Ranger representatives tomorrow, and see if he will get the chance to play overseas. If he does, he said he wants to suit up for Sodertalje.
