Chris Kreider excited New York Ranger fans by scoring a hat trick in the Connecticut Whale's final preseason game, helping the team win 4-3 over the Worcester Sharks Sunday afternoon at the Koeppel Community Center at Trinity College.
Kreider scored once in every period, while first-round prospect J.T. Miller scored the other goal for Connecticut. Scott Stajcer recorded 19 saves for the first win of his professional career.
The Whale powerplay was 3/5 in the contest.
The Whale open their 2012-13 regular season this Friday, October 12 at the XL Center, with a 7:30 p.m. battle against their in-state rivals the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders). At that game, all fans can purchase tickets at the special price of $12 each, and that night will also kick off the Whale’s new Friday night $1 hot dogs and $2 beers promotion.
