The NHL proposed a deal to the NHL Players' Association today featuring a 50-50 split in hockey related revenue.
"We hope we've given our best shot," Gary Bettman told reporters.
The NHL's latest proposal is contingent on the regular season beginning on Nov. 2, which would preserve the league's customary 82-game schedule.
Fehr cautious. NHLPA will respond sooner rather than later.

NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr says the union will study the offer and get back to NHL "sooner rather than later."
The fine print of the deal will include all the nuances with player contracts.
The deal is reported to be at least for six years and would prevent further cancelation of any games.
