It was a big win for the New York Rangers on the road….not only because they won, but because they also got contributions from three struggling players.

Derek Stepan, Rick Nash and Carl Hagelin all lit the lamp for the Rangers on their way to a 3-2 victory in Tampa Bay vs. the Lightning.

For Stepan and Hagelin, it was the first goal of the season for both. Both players have received added pressure recently with Ryan Callahan out with an injury. Many members of the media have been on the two about scoring goals for a struggling offense.

Finally, eight games into the year, they're both on the board.

Stepan scored the first goal for the Rangers on a power play. He was able to backhand a rebound past Mathieu Garon.

Hagelin's goal was the eventual game-winner. He received a pass from Taylor Pyatt and was able to poke the puck through Garon's five-hole.

For the Tampa Bay Lightning (6-2-0) Steven Stamkos scored both goals. He recorded seven shots on goal in the game and was able to beat Martin Biron twice.

Biron played great in place of Henrik Lundqvist, as his 30 saves earned his first win of the year in his only start.

Rick Nash scored a pivotal goal early in the third period. He made a move that no NHL player should be able to make on others. He skated up the side board and went right around the defense, cutting to the front of the net and putting the puck past Garon.

"It always feels good to score, but mainly it was the win that felt the best," Nash said.

The Rangers improve to 4-4-0 with the win, and they now have eight total points through their first eight games.
