Rick Nash was scratched from the New York Rangers lineup for tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens.
There is no word on why Nash is being held out of the lineup, which will lead to some speculation — and it already has.
Less info #NYR provide on Rick Nash sudden scratch, the more speculation there will be.— Andrew Gross (@AGrossRecord) February 19, 2013
ESPN's Katie Strang reports a lingering injury received from Boston's Milan Lucic could be the source.
Meanwhile, Osgood from Barstool Sports jokes that Nash is out because of a concussion.
The question now is what will the line combinations look like? Will Kreider just step into Nash's place on the team's second line with Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin? Or maybe J.T. Miller will move into that slot, with Kreider joining Brian Boyle and Taylor Pyatt.
Only Tortorella has those answers, but he won't expose that to the media.
Prior to the Rangers' 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals, Nash was a question mark but was able to go and had a huge impact on the game. This time, he didn't take part in the team's optional skate earlier today — which is odd because it means he didn't even test out what was bothering him.
All we know is that tonight Nash won't be on the ice for the Blueshirts, who take on Montreal at 7:00 p.m.
